The Government of Hungary Offers its Condolences

The Government offers its sincere condolences and sympathy to the family of Árpád Göncz, who passed away on October 6, 2015.

Árpád Göncz gave his utmost in the service of a reawakening Hungarian democracy throughout his ten years in office as Hungary’s first democratically elected President of the Republic after the fall of communism. In consultation with his family, the Government will make arrangements for a funeral worthy of his memory.
